A practical printing guide
How to print graph paper at the right scale
The grid only works when the printer keeps the page at its intended size. Use this quick guide to print graph paper with accurate spacing for math, planning, and technical drawing.

1. Choose the paper size first
Open the generator and select A4, Letter, or Legal before exporting. A4 measures 210 × 297 mm, while Letter measures 8.5 × 11 inches. The paper size in the generator should match the paper loaded in your printer.
2. Use Actual size or 100%
In the print dialog, choose Actual size, 100%, or a similar option. Avoid Fit to page, Scale to fit, and Shrink to printable area because those settings change the spacing between grid lines.
3. Check the preview and margins
Keep the preview centered and check that the page orientation matches your paper. A small printer margin is normal, but the grid itself should remain evenly spaced from edge to edge.
4. Test one page
For worksheets or technical drawings, print one test page first. Measure a few cells with a ruler before printing a larger batch. If the measurement is off, return to the print dialog and disable automatic scaling.
Example: a classroom worksheet
A4 · portrait · 10 mm square grid
Choose A4, keep the page portrait, and export a PDF. In the printer dialog select A4 and Actual size, then measure one cell before printing the full class set.
Common questions
What does 100% print scale mean?
It means the printer uses the document dimensions as provided instead of shrinking or enlarging the page to fit the printable area.
Should I use A4 or Letter?
Use the size that matches the paper in your printer tray and the paper size selected in the print dialog.
How can I check that the grid is accurate?
Print one page, measure several cells with a ruler, and disable Fit to page if the measurement is not correct.
